Andrew Ryan, General Household Pest and Lawn Technician
This week’s Tempco Tech spotlight focuses on General Household Pest and Lawn Technician, Andrew Ryan.
Andrew was born and raised in Fort Myers, Florida, and is a Tampa Bay Bucs fan. He remembers watching the Bucs win the Super Bowl on TV with his parents in 2003 when he was six. Since then, his family secured season tickets and he enjoys attending games at Raymond James Stadium.
Andrew graduated from Bishop Verot High School in 2015 and from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2019 with Special Distinction earning a B.S. in Political Science and a minor in Entrepreneurship.
Something not many people know about Andrew is that his Dad founded Tempco. While Tempco Team members know, of course, many clients do not. “My long-term goal is to take the wheel of Tempco when my Dad retires one day — and once I’ve paid my dues and gotten all of the needed experience and certifications,” said Andrew. Although Andrew started working for Tempco full-time in 2019 when he graduated from college, he spent many summers and holiday breaks working for Tempco throughout high school and college. “I remember asking for Tempco business cards back in middle school and making sales to my teachers,” said Andrew.
The craziest issue Andrew has ever had to deal with
The craziest pest issue Andrew has had to deal with while at Tempco was when he found out that snakes were falling from an A/C vent into someone’s bed when they were sleeping. “I resolved their issue by crawling into their attic and removing the corn snakes and making sure any access points were sealed.” The best advice Andrew can give customers is to, “Be proactive and keep an eye out for anything that looks concerning in terms of pest or lawn issues. If you can take pictures of the concerns, that’s even better, so we can either put you at ease or solve your pest problem.”
Andrew’s favorite thing to do in his position is to have the opportunity to connect with customers face to face. “I like making a personal connection and having the chance to understand my client’s concerns. It’s nice to put a name and address to a face. We’re a family-owned and operated business and we pride ourselves on personalized service.”
When Andrew Is Not Working
When not working, Andrew enjoys spending time with his fiancee’ who he met in college. “We’re getting married in early 2023 and are very excited!” Andrew’s hobbies include taking care of his reptiles (three ball pythons, one tree boa, and three lizards: a Uromastyx, a bearded dragon and an aki monitor) as well as working out and reading/watching historical books/movies.
The most important thing in Andrew’s life is faith and family. “I’m blessed to have a wonderful fiancee’ and a close family. My parents, sister and grandparents all live nearby. We enjoy spending time together… whether it’s a dinner out or celebrating a holiday.”
Andrew’s philosophy is, “Anything is possible if you put your mind to it. It’s something my Dad told me when I was young and it’s inspired me.”
