Tempco Technician Spotlight On Drew Garrelts
This week’s Tech Spotlight is shining on Tempco Technician, Drew Garrelts!
Drew Garrelts is not only a Florida native (rare find) but a Fort Myers native as well! A graduate of Hibernian Private High School, Drew worked in both the flooring and pawn shop sectors before joining Tempco Pest Control in 2022. His favorite thing to do while proudly wearing his Tempco uniform, is making a difference and serving our clients.
Drew’s Pest Free Tempco Tips
“I love seeing how the results of my work and Tempco’s pest control solutions positively impact the lives of our clients,” said Garrelts. His best advice for keeping the interior of your home pest free, is keeping things tidy and reducing the amount of paper and boxes in your home (think Amazon deliveries!). “Cardboard is a food source for insects, so it’s best to not to store them in your home.” As for the exterior, he says trimming is key. “It’s important that trees and bushes aren’t touching your home because they create natural bridges for pests to use to more easily enter your home.”
“I’ve really enjoyed building so many great working relationships with our clients in the two short years that I’ve been on Team Tempco.” When you meet Drew, you’ll recognize that he is not only professional and pleasant but also humble and kind. He is not one to brag about himself — but our customers sure do! We have received countless compliments about his outstanding customer service, excellent results, and overall demeanor. One of the best examples of what makes him a client favorite took place after Hurricane Ian. With pest control services on hold in the immediate aftermath of the storm, our team was doing clean-up work for several local manufactured home communities. Drew crossed paths with an elderly woman who was in dire straits and unable to afford her cat’s food. Without skipping a beat, Drew purchased food for her cat with his own money and delivered it to her. Needless to say, she was surprised and grateful. What makes this gesture even more remarkable is that Drew had lost his own home in the storm, yet he put others’ needs above his own despite his personal loss.
When Drew Is Not Working
While he traveled to Amsterdam, Australia and New Zealand as a youth soccer player competing in the USA Team Kanga Cup, Drew has since hung up his cleats. These days he spends his spare time saltwater fishing, boating and relaxing with friends and family along with his black shepherd, Raven.
Drew’s motto is, “It is what it is.” He said, “The magic of that mindset is that while we can’t change certain things, we can change the way we respond to them, and that can make all the difference.” We’re proud of the difference Drew makes in the lives of our customers.
