Meet Daniel Phelps, Your Tempco Tech

A Fort Myers, Florida Native

Not only is Daniel a Florida native, which is rare enough, but he is actually a Fort Myers native, too. A talented artist, Daniel enrolled in Lehigh Senior High’s Visual Arts Program. Despite successfully graduating from the program, an injury to his hand cut his budding future in the arts short. After graduation, Daniel was offered employment at one of the most popular Asian food chains in the nation…P.F. Changs. He started as a busboy and in two short years worked his way up the ranks to cook and even a skilled sushi roller. His favorite sushi is the shrimp tempura roll and he excelled at creating all kinds of custom rolls for his customers. While he loved his job and making his customers smile, he did not enjoy the extremely late evening and weekend hours. Daniel was looking for a career opportunity that would allow him to continue to provide excellent customer service but during a more traditional work week so he would have more family time. He heard about Tempco from a family member and joined the team as a general household technician in 2018. He’s been doing a wonderful job ever since.

Daniel Phelps, The General Household Pest Technician

Daniel’s favorite thing to do as a pest control technician is to treat ants because there are so many different kinds.

He said, “It almost makes you feel like Sherlock Holmes because there is quite a bit of detective work involved. You really need to think like a bug to see what is attracting them, where they are nesting and more.”

He often retraces their steps and has even followed their paths around entire houses in order to find the best solution. His craziest pest encounter while working at Tempco was a massive roach infestation.

He said, “When I walked into the home, the walls, floor and ceiling were totally covered with roaches. Then when I moved a cutting board that was in front of a microwave, at least 100 roaches came out from under it!”

It was a challenging job but he was so glad to help the homeowner. The best pest prevention advice Daniel can give customers is to maintain the interior and exterior of their homes.

“When it comes to the exterior of your home, make sure you trim your tree branches and palm fronds to keep bugs and rodents from having easier access to the interior of your home. Keeping clutter to a minimum on the interior of your home also greatly reduces the likelihood of pest issues.”

When He’s Not Working

Daniel – a self-professed movie buff – enjoys watching movies with his family and friends. Speaking of family, Daniel and his family are very patriotic and they live by the following military mottos: The only easy day was yesterday. Keep on keeping on.” Daniel’s top priority is his family. With the recent passing of his dad, that rings true now more than ever. He enjoys spending quality time with his mother and he hopes to have his own family one day. With eight adorable nieces, he knows it’s up to him to carry on the family name
